You are looking at the combined efforts of four friends with a shared love of sewing and a complementary set of additional skills. The original idea for the tables and cards came to Gwen, in part through her sewing (i.e., fabric buying!) experiences and in part through her ongoing dialogue with other sewers via her blog (http://afterthedress.blogspot.com).
In fact, you can see earlier versions of the fabric requirement tables on her blog - although please note that those versions are based on a smaller set of patterns and do not necessarily include all of the features that are provided on this card set.
Gwen quickly recruited her friend and fellow data-cruncher at work, Christine, to be her partner. The two of them are responsible for finding and entering numbers from over 2,000 patterns into spreadsheets, to create the tables on this first set of reference cards (women’s clothes).
Next came Beth (aka MissBlackPepper of Etsy), a graphic designer who specializes in creating prints for Spoonflower custom-made fabric. She brought the cards to life, by designing them and drawing the beautiful sketches to illustrate clothes that can be made using the minimum, average and maximum amounts of fabric listed in each table.
Finally, Susan, a fellow rock climber and emerging talent in web design, developed this web site for us.
We hope that you like the web site and love the cards! Thank you for stopping by!
